At the Your Selfie Is Iconic! exhibition, approximately 80 beautiful and unique nude selfies are showcased on smartphones within an interactive sculptural ensemble.

Five distinct bedspread sculptures were designed to hold these smartphones, presenting the selfie collections. In order to view the images, visitors have to touch the sculptures, use them, and posture themselves in a pose that appears from the outside as if they were taking a selfie themselves.

How do I see myself and how is my selfie political?

Your Selfie Is Iconic! is a project that redefines the concept of the "selfie". It views a selfie as a photographic testament to an action that emphasizes self-determined, vulnerable, and tender body representation. I myself decide what and how I represent myself. The selfie is seen as an empowering act, the reclaiming of one's own image as an iconic gesture.

The project Your Selfie Is Iconic! sensitively but decisively questions the boundary between the private and the civic in order to bring about an exploration of the important issues of the body, sexuality, and self-determination. The goal is to reach affected individuals and perhaps encourage them to deal with themselves and their bodies in a more loving way. Your Selfie is Iconic! not only addresses a call to self-determined action but also tries to reveal internalized judgmental behavior. Since we are all affected by this, everyone is addressed.
